Jeanne Horlanda • June 27, 2024
From the first week of June through the end of this month, Fresh Harvest 365 and University City High School (UCHS) have been immersed in an exciting journey with the F.A.R.M. (Future Agricultural Resource Managers) Summer Leadership Internship Program. This collaborative initiative has been a beacon for fostering a deep-rooted passion among select UCHS students for agribusiness, STEM, and sustainable food practices.

Cultivating Future Leaders in Agriculture and Sustainability

Over the span of four engaging weeks at our headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, our participants have dived headfirst into the realms of urban farming and SMART farming techniques. Through hands-on experiences in hydroponics and insightful sessions on agribusiness strategies, students have not only developed practical skills but also honed their interpersonal and leadership capabilities.

Highlights and Milestones

Throughout the program, students have actively participated in a wide array of activities designed to deepen their understanding of sustainable farming practices. Each participant received a hydroponic grow kit valued at $200, enabling them to continue their exploration beyond the internship. Moreover, participants earned valuable .5 elective credits towards their high school graduation and were awarded a certificate of completion from Fresh Harvest 365 in recognition of their dedication and achievements.

Impact and Community Engagement

The impact of the F.A.R.M. internship extends beyond individual growth; it underscores our shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of farmers and leaders in agricultural innovation. By equipping students with practical tools and experiences that promote sustainability, we are collectively contributing to building a more resilient future in agribusiness.

Inspiring the Future of Farming

As we conclude this year's F.A.R.M. program, we take pride in celebrating the growth and accomplishments of our participants. Their unwavering enthusiasm and dedication throughout the internship highlight the transformative power of education and hands-on learning in shaping the future of farming and sustainable food systems.

Moving Forward with Purpose

Looking ahead, here at Fresh Harvest 365, we remain dedicated to advancing initiatives that promote agricultural innovation and community engagement. Our commitment to fostering sustainable practices and empowering youth continues to drive our efforts as we pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
